This course is designed to provide students with a better understanding of Officer deaths while on calls for service. This course will take a look at Domestic dispute calls, Disturbance calls, Officer needs assistance calls, Burglary calls, Suspicious Person and Suspicious Vehicle calls, Officer initiated activity, and then explain the manner of the Officer’s death. This course will address issues of complacency on the part of the Telecommunicator as well as the Officer. This course will provide students with a closer understanding of why these everyday calls for service are dangerous and should be taken seriously. THIS LOCATION WILL BE AT THE FRANKFORT ACADEMY.
The instructor: Jason Long is a Law Enforcement Instructor III at the Kentucky State Police Academy and has been there since 2014. Before that, he was the Shift Supervisor for Post 5 in Campbellsburg and has been dispatching since 1998. Jason is a nationally known Instructor who travels all over the country teaching his courses with his training business. He is also the Chief of Milton Fire & Rescue in Milton Kentucky where he has been since 1997. He is also a former United States Marine Infantry Rifleman.
