Kentucky State Police Academy

Instructor Development I

with Charles Hedgespeth

Class has begun

This course is designed to develop Kentucky State Police Troopers, Kentucky State Police Officers, and/or local law enforcement officers, with at least 3 years of experience, as law enforcement instructors.  Topics covered will range from building a course, engaging students, classroom teach-back, skill teach-back, learn operations of a cadet class, and other instructor-specific topics.  Instructor instruction and student teach back will be nearly 50/50; classroom time will be 60:40 for assignment work: lecture. This course will require physical participation, require students to complete assignments, and give several presentations in front of the class.  Students that do not participate in physical exercises and/or assignments will not receive in-service credit.  After the completion of this course, Troopers/Officers will be considered qualified for adjunct positions at the Kentucky State Police Academy.  This course will prepare students for future full-time positions as instructors and for a KLEC instructor course in the future.

KLEC Instructor Certification is not required.

This course is for instructors that are interested in becoming better or those looking to become instructors.
