This course is designed to develop Kentucky State Police Troopers, Kentucky State Police Officers, and/or local law enforcement officers, with at least 3 years of experience, as law enforcement instructors. Topics covered will range from building a course, engaging students, classroom teach-back, skill teach-back, learn operations of a cadet class, and other instructor-specific topics. Instructor instruction and student teach back will be nearly 50/50; classroom time will be 60:40 for assignment work: lecture. This course will require physical participation, require students to complete assignments, and give several presentations in front of the class. Students that do not participate in physical exercises and/or assignments will not receive in-service credit. After the completion of this course, Troopers/Officers will be considered qualified for adjunct positions at the Kentucky State Police Academy. This course will prepare students for future full-time positions as instructors and for a KLEC instructor course in the future.
KLEC Instructor Certification is not required.
This course is for instructors that are interested in becoming better or those looking to become instructors.
This Class is KLEC approved for 40 hours.
