This course is a more in-depth version of the 8-hour block taught during the KSP Supervisors Academy. It is designed to provide KSP supervisors at all levels with the information and tools needed to manage a large-scale, adversarial, active-threat incident from it’s beginning - prior to KSP SRT arrival - to its operational conclusion. Additionally, the various roles and responsibilities within the Incident Command System will be discussed and applied through practical group exercises and case studies from real-world KSP critical incidents. The focus during these exercises and case studies will be command decision-making, both at a tactical and strategic level.
Understanding the key principles, concepts, and strategies used in:
1. managing a dynamic tactical problem,
2. the 4 primary types of critical incidents involving an adversary,
3. how incident command develops and works within the framework of the KSP
4. the science and philosophy behind tactical decision-making,
5. planning strategies for law enforcement tactical operations, &
5. UOF (use of force) considerations in a critical incident…
