Telecommunicators Response to Mental Health is an 8-hours course that helps students understand the different types of mental illness law enforcement may encounter. In this course, students will be taught how to recognize and respond to call involving Schizophrenia, Dissociative Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, and responder suicides. This location will be at the Frankfort Academy campus.
The Instructor: Jason Long is a Law Enforcement Instructor III at the Kentucky State Police Academy and has been there for 7 years. Before that, he was the Shift Supervisor for Post 5 in Campbellsburg and has been dispatching since 1998. He is also the Chief of Milton Fire & Rescue in Milton Kentucky where he has been since 1997. He is also a former United States Marine Infantry Rifleman.
