Handling Pursuits and Stops (Frankfort)

This course is designed to train Telecommunicators on how to handle pursuit calls effectively. The course covers essential information required during pursuits, proper techniques, notifications, and other factors that contribute to a successful pursuit. Students will review previous pursuits and analyze them to determine areas that could have been handled better.

In the afternoon session, students will participate in the STOPS training, which will take place outdoors. During this training, participants will learn what it takes to conduct a traffic stop and everything that a Police Officer must do during the stop. The session will involve hands-on experience in making a traffic stop in a simulated environment using simunition pistols.

The instructor: Jason Long is a Law Enforcement Instructor III at the Kentucky State Police Academy and has been there since 2014. Before that, he was the Shift Supervisor for Post 5 in Campbellsburg and has been dispatching since 1998. Jason is a nationally known Instructor who travels all over the country teaching his courses with his training business. He is also the Chief of Milton Fire & Rescue in Milton Kentucky where he has been since 1997. He is also a former United States Marine Infantry Rifleman.
