Response to Mental Health (Frankfort Campus)

Telecommunicator's Response to Mental Health is an 8-hour course that helps students understand the different types of mental illness law enforcement may encounter. This course teaches students how to recognize and respond to calls involving Schizophrenia, Dissociative Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, and responder suicides. This course will also talk about PTSD and suicide within the First Responder career field.

This location will be in Frankfort.

The instructor: Jason Long is a Law Enforcement Instructor III at the Kentucky State Police Academy and has been there since 2014. Before that, he was the Shift Supervisor for Post 5 in Campbellsburg and has been dispatching since 1998. Jason is a nationally known Instructor who travels all over the country teaching his courses with his training business. He is also the Chief of Milton Fire & Rescue in Milton Kentucky where he has been since 1997. He is also a former United States Marine Infantry Rifleman.
