Telecommunicators Response to Mental Health (Frankfort Academy)
with Jason Long

Telecommunicators Response to Mental Health is an 8-hours course that helps students understand the different types of mental illness law enforcement may encounter. In this course, students will be taught how to recognize and respond to call involving Schizophrenia, Dissociative Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, and responder suicides. This location will be at the Frankfort Academy campus.
The Instructor: Jason Long is a Law Enforcement Instructor III at the Kentucky State Police Academy and has been there for 7 years. Before that, he was the Shift Supervisor for Post 5 in Campbellsburg and has been dispatching since 1998. He is also the Chief of Milton Fire & Rescue in Milton Kentucky where he has been since 1997. He is also a former United States Marine Infantry Rifleman.

Advanced CJIS/TAC (Elizabethtown Campus)
with Miranda Luttrell

This course is designed to provide the experienced LINK operator with advanced techniques related to all CJIS files, as well as a basic understanding of the duties and responsibilities of the Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC). Enrollment is restricted to certified CJIS operators and is recommended for the TAC, Assistant TAC, and those operators who may be assigned TAC duties in the future. THIS LOCATION WILL BE AT KENTUCKY STATE POLICE ACADEMY IN ELIZABETHTOWN.
The Instructor: Miranda Luttrell is the Shift Supervisor of Post 15 Columbia and is also an Adjunct Instructor for the Kentucky State Police Academy. She has been dispatching since 1999 and teaches several classes in the academy including CJIS/NCIC.

Mental Health First Aid (Elizabethtown Campus)
with Charles Hedgespeth

Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour course taught by Trooper Charles Hedgespeth that teaches you how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The training helps you identify, understand, and respond to signs of addictions and mental illnesses. THIS LOCATION WILL BE AT THE ELIZABETHTOWN CAMPUS.

Deadly Calls & Fatal Encounters (Elizabethtown Campus)
with Jason Long

This course is designed to provide students with a better understanding of Officer deaths while on calls for service. This course will take a look at Domestic dispute calls, Disturbance calls, Officer needs assistance calls, Burglary calls, Suspicious Person and Suspicious Vehicle calls, Officer initiated activity, and then explain the manner of the Officer’s death. This course will address issues of complacency on the part of the Telecommunicator as well as the Officer. This course will provide students a closer understanding of why these every day calls for service are dangerous and should be taken seriously. THIS LOCATION WILL BE AT THE ELIZABETHTOWN CAMPUS.

Human Trafficking (Elizabethtown Campus)
with Ricky Lynn

This course is designed for Telecommunicators. This course will provide the Telecommunicators on the duties and responsibilities of handling human trafficking calls and how to document those call types. Students will also be given instruction on the different types of human trafficking and how to recognize the signs during a caller interview over the phone. The students will also be able to better understand and identify human trafficking cases and who to contact. This location will be on the Elizabethtown campus.
The Instructor: Ricky Lynn is a Detective with the Kentucky Attorney General's Office. Detective Lynn was previously a Detective with the Lexington Metro Police Department for many years. He currently the lead investigator on many human trafficking cases.
